We loved it so much, we took our team photo here. Meet the entrepreneurs, artists, and specialized manufacturers that make up this mini neighborhood.
Passyunk Square is the place for your family, let us introduce you to some of our favorite places to hang with our kids.
If you want beautiful green space for recreation and relaxation, Fairmount is known for its historical richness, cultural attractions, proximity to Center City, and… green space! Home to the famous Museum Row, a whole multitude of world-class institutions is mere footsteps away.
Nestled along the banks of the Schuylkill River and the canal and tow path, Manayunk is an urban experience with small town charm. Named a National Historic District in 1983, Manayunk is located just minutes west of Center City Philadelphia, a short scenic drive out Kelly Drive or a quick train ride away.
Philadelphia’s public schools are a topic of conversation everywhere. The Philly Home Girls are touring as many as possible on behalf of our clients. This week’s tour was in South Philly, specifically the neighborhoods west of Broad including Graduate Hospital, Newbold, Point Breeze and Girard Estate.
Known for being the first Philly neighborhood settled by Italian immigrants, Bella Vista is one of the most diverse and exciting communities in Philadelphia. Bella Vista, which translates to ‘beautiful sight’, gets its namesake for its gorgeous view of the Center City Skyline. Its history dates to the colonial era, where protestant Italian immigrants from Sicily began to settle in the area, but it only grew into a thriving Italian hub in the late 1880s, where a vast amount of Italians traveled to the U.S.
Name the first three words that come to mind when you think of Old City Philly. If one of those words was “historic”, color us surprised. Old City (or if you dig farther back – “olde city”) is well known for its cultural heritage and connections to the birth of America. As a landmark of America’s history, Old City proudly hosts numerous museums, parks, and theaters, including the Independence National Historical Park. In recent years, the neighborhood has gone through extensive renovations, combining its gorgeous antique-style architectural upbringing with more modern and sleek designs.
Newbold is a fabulous neighborhood in Philadelphia known architecturally for wider homes than typical, brick facades, brownstone lintels and colorful antique doors. It’s one of many vibrant sections of South Philly and loosely runs from Tasker Avenue to West Passyunk Avenue, and west of Broad Street to 18th Street. Like all Philadelphia neighborhoods, you’re allowed to call home the neighborhood where your heart is. Who needs stinking boundaries? Commuting to and from Newbold couldn’t be easier with the Broad Street Line running parallel to it. Hop on at the Tasker-Morris Station and you’ll be downtown in no time. Here are two fabulous homes in the area and a few of our favorite establishments for you to frequent when you move there.
In an effort to debunk the myth that Philadelphia’s public schools aren’t very good, and to stop the flight of families moving to the suburbs, the Philly Home Girls are making an effort to tour many of the county’s public schools on behalf of our clients. This week’s tour was in the Riverwards, more commonly known as Fishtown, Northern Liberties and South Kensington.
Spring is finally upon us and the Philly Home Girls are ready to get out and explore some of our favorite neighborhoods. One neighborhood we’re particularly excited about is Washington Square West. It’s got all the appeal of being in center city, but still feels like home with the welcoming neighbors and small tree lined streets. It’s a great neighborhood for someone who’s moving to Philadelphia for the first time or has lived here longer but is looking for a change. Washington Square West is really perfect for all.
Graduate Hospital isn’t just north of Washington Ave anymore. Thinking of moving to GHo? Do you think you need to overpay to be north of Christian? These budding businesses will give you a new perspective forever: Take for example the popular Fishtown spot, Loco Pez, now opening a second location at 20th and Bainbridge street. It is the spot to grab the best tacos and margaritas.
One of the most picturesque neighborhoods in Philadelphia, Chestnut Hill is located in the northwest section of Philadelphia, just a half hour away from Center City. Originally part of the German Township laid out by Francis Daniel Pastorius, Chestnut Hill served as a vacation spot during the 18th century, due to its higher elevation and cool temperatures.
