Enjoying Spring in Washington Square West

With the warm weather heading our way, we’re particularly excited about bopping around Washington Square West. It’s got all the appeal of being in center city, but still feels like home with the welcoming neighbors and small tree lined streets. Check out some of our fav spots to spend an early morning, sunny afternoon or romantic evening exploring.

It’s easy being green

As Jefferson University and Hospital & Pennsylvania Hospital are located right in Washington Square you’ll see doctors, nurses and residents strolling the neighborhood in their scrubs all year round. In the spring there is a particular pep in the step. A moment to take a break from the fluorescent lit halls and head to the tucked away public outdoor spaces, or the expanse of the park to grab a bite to eat in the sunshine. Washington Square Park gets all the press, but don’t overlook neighborhood pocket parks such as Khan Park and Perth and Addison Park . Looking to entertain the kids? Head to Seger Park, it has a stellar playground complete with a splash pad. If your condo in the neighborhood doesn’t fulfill your green thumb, join one of the THREE community gardens maintained by the Washington Square West Civic Association!

Pups will be spoiled with a Wash West address. They can run and meet the neighbors at Seger Dog Park , head to Club Fetch for doggy daycare, and stock up on treats at Doggy Style Pets.

Stroll and Shop

A sunny day in the neighborhood is perfect for meandering and doing some shopping. Head to the little cluster on Pine between 9th and 11th to kick your afternoon off. Nothing turns our head like a bridal store window, check out The Sample Rack. They have sample wedding dresses from size 2-24 at discounted prices (you can put the savings toward the down payment on your new home!). A few feet away you’ll find Kin Boutique. Browse the racks and you’re sure to find something to throw on for date night. Next door check out Yarnphoria a crochet and knitting store whose shelves are stocked for your next project. On the same block, book some time at Wax + Wine Candle Bar. It’s BYOB and they’ll even let you munch on food you’ve brought in while creating your own signature candle. Revival PHL has all the handbags, cufflinks and hair accessories to get you looking polished for that interview. Addiction Designer Consignment is the real deal- authentic Gucci, Channel, and other exclusive designers. You’ll drop some cash, but most items are way more than half off original retail!
