Known for: Italian food delicacy shops! And the best authentic Mexican eateries in the city. Pocket parks are also in high supply in Bella Vista.

Bella Vista translates to “beautiful sight”, and when exploring the neighborhood you will agree that the name is a fitting one. Classic Philly rowhomes of brick enhance the charm of this area. With walkable proximity to Society Hill, Queen Village and East Passyunk, you will be tempted to explore outside this neighborhood. However, if you choose to stay close to home you will find outstanding restaurants and small businesses that make this neighborhood a true community.

Bella Vista is home to the Italian Market which is steeped in Philly history. Considered one of the oldest and largest open-air markets in the US. It is not an “official” neighborhood, but more of an area that mingles with Bella Vista in South Philly. Encompassing 8th, 9th, and 10th streets and stretching approximately 6 blocks south of Christian, you will find stalls showcasing produce, fruit, meat, seafood, and other wares. Step off the sidewalk and into one of the many restaurants or shops that cater to discriminating tastes.

Bella Vista Neighbors Association brings residents together via volunteer opportunities and neighborhood forums. You will want to mark your calendars and be sure not to miss the South 9th Street Italian Festival that happens annually.
