MAIN LINE

Known for: Sprawling estates and high-end shopping.

The Main Line of Philadelphia is a group of suburban towns that line the trail of the old Pennsylvania Railroad. In the 1800s its picturesque and spacious landscape made it a desirable locale for Philly’s affluent families. Ever since the glamorous debutante balls, horse shows, and cricket matches have inspired movies (The Philadelphia Story) and soap operas (All My Children).

Take a drive through the area and you’ll spot stately mansions, charming historic homes, and even the occasional new construction. The homes are just as varied as the locals from the deep-rooted families to young professionals that crave a little more space than the city allows.

Here the smalltown charm is felt whether you’re walking the Euro-like Main Streets or attending the prestigious Radnor Hunt Races. On any given weekend you’ll have no trouble finding a festival to attend like Kennett Square’s iconic Mushroom fest. With an abundance of shopping centers and dining destinations, you won’t need to come into the city for all your fun...but when you do an I-95 on-ramp is never too far.
