Port Richmond is a residential neighborhood, north of Fishtown. Home to Philadelphia’s Polish community, families, old-timers and new younger homebuyers. Classic Philly row homes are the majority with new construction sneaking in here and there. Tiny streets, big porches, and yards are selling points that keep the neighborhood charm alive.  

You will find a few main drags in Port Richmond. The first Somerset Ave, which is just on the flip side of Lehigh. It is home to old-school haunts, like the famous Taconelli’s Pizza. Our money is on more growth on Somerset in the next few years. . Richmond Street was once a bustling thoroughfare,  full of small market vendors. Many small businesses of yesterday have faded away. Recently it has undergone a tremendous overhaul, with newly paved streets and trolley tracks have been re-laid. New life is sprouting up along Richmond Street in and small corners tucked into the neighborhood side streets. Allegheny Ave is home to the Polish community. With services such as banks and tax accountants, restaurants and nightlife that includes karaoke, this street is a pleasure to explore and find out about those Polish treasures you never knew you loved. Aramingo Avenue runs through the middle of Port Richmond, you will find your big box chains, supermarkets, and fast food packed along the roadside. 

Port Richmond Neighborhood Association is a group that residents can turn to for news of the neighborhood and town hall meetings at Cohocksink Recreation Center. Don’t miss out on the other activities that go on in this neighborhood park, including swimming in the public pool. You’ll find many green spots tucked in the streets of Port Richmond, such as Powers Park, Campbell Square which hold celebrations, movie nights, and other community fun. Walk over to General Pulaski Park and take in the view of the Delaware. And mark your calendars for the Mother of Grace Divine Italian Festival that takes place at the end of May and the beginning of June.

Port Richmond is all about the buses and in the future, the trolley will be back up and running down Richmond Ave. With a car, easy access to 1-95 makes Center City a hop skip and a jump away, the Betsy Ross Bridge easily connects New Jersey access.
